With wisdom we grow...

"A house is built by wisdom, and it is established by understanding; by knowledge the rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure." - Proverbs 24:3-4

This proverb is so rich, especially when read in context.  As with all of the proverbs, this one speaks of wisdom that we, as followers of Christ should desire.  I especially appreciate how Proverb 24 begins by warning the reader to have caution of evil men and following those evil men.  I would take that a step farther and caution us all to be careful to strictly follow the ways of Christ, always trying to follow ONLY His ways.  There are many in this world that have great intentions, but do, for whatever reason, lead us astray.

Secondly, in the specific verses that I have used above, I see application for churches as they try to grow spiritually and physically.  As we "build," we want to make sure that we are doing this with God's wisdom.  We must do our best by trying to understand our ministry areas and present situation so that we can minister to those around us.  Each church must strive to reach folks where they are physically and spiritually. This requires a sensitve spirit to God's leading and an openess to His leading.  When this is done, our home (God's house) truly will be filled with "precious and beautiful treasures."

Pray that churches seek to build upon the foundation of God's wisdom and not man's.

In Christ,

Bro. Grant
