What captures your attention...

LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known;in wrath remember mercy.  - Habakkuk 3:2

A good drama, someone telling a story, a piece of history...what captures your attention?  What causes your to stand in awe?  Unfortunately, too many things capture our attention these day, but too few of the "right" things truly cause us to stand in awe like what is mentioned in this scripture.  Habakkuk is asking God to return to the day of the deeds that once were.  Habakkuk has heard of these deeds and truly believes that God is still able to perform these deeds.  That's the kind of faith I would desire.  That's the kind of faith that a church should desire.

When you are reading God's word, is it just a reading?  Or, do you find yourself unable to put it down sometimes because you get wrapped up in the story, the workings of God?  That's standing in awe of God.  During this mornings reading, I found myself captured by a story I have read many times and even preached from in the past.  However, on this date, I simply couldn't put it down.  I could see God's hand working even more THIS time, so I kept reading.  By the time I finished, I had read several more days worth of reading than planned (way behind on other things now) but it shows that God still captures you if you will allow Him the opportunity.  God wants your attention...let Him have it!!

In Christ,

Bro. Grant
