We are the church...

"For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building." - 1 Corinthians 3:9

Before too many of you think that I have lost my mind, yes this is part of the Scripture that I used this past Sunday.  If you did not worship with us on Sunday, then nevermind...

I wanted to to share this text with you again because I wasn't quite finished.  There was just a little more practical application to be learned by you AND me.  I was clear to point out that the church is not the physical building, but it is the people building one another up, encouraging one another, strengthening one another.  This is the true meaning of what the church is and is to be.  However, when I discussed the practical application of this, I did realize how God was going to use that the very next day...

I was out running errands and got a call that someone was in the hospital and decided that it was a good time to make that visit.  As I parked my car and prayed for guidance as to what to say, there was absolutely nothing coming to me...nothing.  I got out of my car and headed into the hospital anyway.  I walked into the room and sat with this person and had a great conversation, talking about "church" on Sunday.  We didn't discuss what the sermon was about, just the wonderful music that we had (morning and evening), the great fellowship that was present, and the fact that if she couldn't come to church..."church could come to her."  That's right, "church" could come to her.  Buildings can't move, but the people can.  Since WE are the church, we have the ability to "go to people" and show them God.  When folks miss out on services/events/fellowships, then take it to them.  Show them the love of Christ...We are the church.

In Christ,

Bro. Grant
