Trust His will...

"Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?” - John 18:11 (NIV)

Can you image the emotions that were running through Peter's mind at the time Jesus spoke these words to him?  Imagine the setting.  The person that Peter had spent most of his days with was about to be taken away by soldiers.  Emotions were high to say the least.  Peter had just seen his Master heal the man's ear that he had cut off (Luke 22:51).  Miracles were happening in their midst.  Yet, Jesus was trying to teach Peter that there was something more important.

How many of us can truly concentrate on what we are suppose to when everything around us is moving and distracting us from our focus?  It's difficult to say the least.  It is especially difficult when we are being distracted by what we perceive as the "most important" event/subject/point/aspect (whatever you want to put in there) is transpiring.  However, it is at that time that we need to hear the words of Jesus...the same words that He told Peter, "Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?"  Should we not do exactly what the Father has told us to do?  Should we not do the will of the Father?  Of course we should!

At the time that it is most difficult to follow through, or concentrate, it is at that time that we are to follow through with the will of the Father.  Put the distractions of the world aside.  Put our human anger, anxiety, fear, etc., to the side and trust in the will of a perfect Father who knows what is best for each of us.

In Christ,

Bro. Grant
