Men at work...

"The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them. They rebuilt the temple of God according to its original design and reinforced it."   - 2 Chronicles 24:13

The above scripture describes how work was being done on the the temple of God.  Difficult that involved time and effort.  The temple was in need of repair and Joash decided it was time.  This was going to take commitment, not only on the part of Joash but for each person that decided to follow.  Notice the type of commitment that is described in this one verse.  The men in charge were "diligent."  They took care to make sure it was done right.  It might take time and patience but they were going to make sure that it was done right because it was God's house.  Notice also that it progressed.  Even though they took their time, the work progressed.  No mention of complaints; No mention of set backs of which I'm sure there were both.  Just the fact that they moved forward with the repairs of God's temple.  They even took care to make sure it was in its original design, the way God intended it to be, not the way they wanted it to be, but the way God wanted it, strengthening it all the way.

I felt as if we, as a church body participated in that type of process this past weekend.  A group of 14 men joined in to work on God's temple.  It was diligent work that will probably be forgotten because it is work that is not seen, it is not prominent.  However, it is important, none the less.  It was work that would be described as "and the repairs progressed under them."  Slow and steady will we repair those things that need to be fixed.  Never once did I hear a negative word or complaint.  Never once did I hear, "why don't we get someone to do this?"  I simply saw "men in charge" working to repair God's temple.

We are blessed at FBC Hooks and Saturday was just an example of that...thank you men!

In Christ,

Bro. Grant
