For His glory...

"As he walked along, he saw a man blind from birth.  His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”  Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God’s works might be revealed in him. "  John 9:1-4 (NIV)

Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the heavenly homecoming for Daren York, Pastor of Red Springs.  What a wonderful time of remembrance and true celebration.  During the message, the Scripture mentioned above was used as Daren had taught from it when he found out he was sick a few years back.  Daren had stated  (paraphrasing) that some people are blind just because they are blind, some people are sick just because they are sick, and some people get cancer just because they get cancer. BUT, it is all for the glory of God.  Daren believed and trusted with all his heart that his cancer and the way that he dealt with his illness was being used for the glory of God.

Personally, I truly hate that anyone has to suffer with cancer.  However, I must agree with Daren's words in the fact that his illness was used for God's glory.  His testimony was and IS a reminder of what our lives are to be every day. We are to look at every challenge that comes our way as an opportunity to glorify God.  Rather than finding someone to blame for our troubles, our illnesses, and our faults, why don't we simply look toward God and let Him know that we will glorify Him through this "obstacle?"  After's temporary!

In Christ,

Bro. Grant
